TKAT ACE
ACE: A Champion for Every Child
At Drapers Mills, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to be the absolute best version of themselves. We are incredibly proud to be part of the TKAT ACE (A Champion for Every Child) programme—a unique pastoral initiative designed to ensure that no child is educationally or socially disadvantaged because of their background.
Through the ACE programme, we provide dedicated support to our children and families who receive Pupil Premium funding, ensuring they have a voice, a helping hand, and a true advocate in school.
What is an ACE Tutor?
The heart of the programme lies in our specially trained ACE Tutors. Your child is paired with their own dedicated tutor—an adult who becomes their go-to person in school.
ACE time is completely child-centred. Tutors meet regularly with their students on a 1:1 basis to listen, challenge, and support them. Together, they create a personalised plan to help them thrive.
How an ACE Tutor Supports Your Child:
- Emotional & Social Well-being: Building self-esteem, navigating friendships, and teaching emotional regulation strategies through games, arts, and talk.
- Overcoming Barriers to Learning: Helping with basic math skills, extra reading, phonics, or homework support to build classroom confidence.
- Boosting Attendance & Punctuality: Working alongside children and families to make sure getting to school is positive and stress-free.
- Nurturing Ambition: Celebrating individual successes and encouraging children to explore new hobbies, clubs, and future dreams.
Working Together with Families
We know that a child thrives best when school and home work together. ACE Tutors do not just support the child; they support the whole family.
Your child's ACE Tutor will contact you regularly to share "proud moments," celebrate milestones, and offer a listening ear. Through our informal school coffee mornings and family workshops, we ensure that parents have a trusted, direct link to the school community. Tutors can also help signpost families to external support or specialist agencies whenever life gets a bit complicated.
What our community says:
"I like the ACE room, my ACE tutor lets me talk about what's happening. I have a target for attendance."
